Grim Reaper Razortip Review
A loyal-following rear-deploy 3-blade with forgiving flight and big exits, dogged by polarizing bone durability.

How it scored
Scored on our fixed 5-part system — built from the consensus of field reports, video tests and hunter feedback. Each axis is an independent 0–10 score. How we score ↗
What we liked
- Forgiving, field-point-like flight
- Reliable rear-deploy with no rubber bands
- Razortip mini-blades on a trocar tip add cutting
- Devastating wounds and quick deaths within ~40 yards
- Multiple grain options and SKUs up to 2 inches
Where it falls short
- Polarizing durability: blades shear or snap on bone
- Aluminum ferrule bends on shoulder hits
- Effectively single-use on hard-bone shots
- Standard model is not crossbow-rated
Flight & accuracy
The Razortip has a strong reputation for forgiving, field-point-like flight, and its loyal following often cites this as the reason they keep buying it. The rear-deploy design carries the blades slim in flight, and the trocar tip with its Razortip mini-blades steers cleanly even on imperfectly tuned setups.
With grain options from 75 to 125, hunters can dial the head to their arrow and draw weight, which helps accuracy across a range of setups. Most users report it grouping with field points without fuss.
Penetration
Penetration is generally good for the class. The standard 1 3/8-inch cut is moderate, which helps the head conserve energy and drive through soft tissue, and the trocar tip plus mini-blades start the cut early. On broadside deer with adequate kinetic energy, pass-throughs are common.
The wider SKUs trade some of that penetration for cut, with the 2-inch model producing what users call ridiculously big exits. As with any wide rear-deploy head, the penalty shows up on quartering angles and bone, where the moderate-diameter version is the safer bet for depth.
Durability & edge retention
Durability is where the Razortip becomes polarizing. The .035-inch 440 stainless blades take a sharp edge and perform well on soft tissue, but on bone they are reported to shear or snap, and the aircraft aluminum ferrule bends on shoulder strikes. On a hard hit, the head is often effectively single-use.
Plenty of hunters report many whitetails with no failures at all, so outcomes hinge heavily on what the arrow hits. Treat it as a soft-tissue performer, keep replacement blades on hand, and do not count on it surviving a scapula.
Blood trail
Blood trails are a highlight. The three-blade cut plus the trocar tip's mini-blades open a wound that bleeds freely, and most deer are dead within about 40 yards. The wounds are routinely described as devastating.
The 2-inch SKU pushes this further, producing very large exit holes and excellent ground sign when the energy is there to get the head through. Across the lineup, this is a strong blood-trail head on well-placed shots.
Value & who it's for
At roughly $45 a three-pack, often with a practice head included, the Razortip is fairly priced and the practice head is a nice touch for sighting in. The single-use-on-bone reality does raise the long-term cost if you hit shoulders.
It fits the whitetail or mule deer hunter who values forgiving flight, reliable deployment, and big blood trails, and who keeps shots broadside. Crossbow shooters must use a crossbow-specific Grim Reaper rather than this standard model, and anyone expecting bone-crushing durability should look at a steel-ferrule head.

How it compares
FAQ
Is the Grim Reaper Razortip durable on bone?
It's polarizing. On soft tissue it performs well, but blades can shear or snap and the aluminum ferrule can bend on shoulder hits, making it effectively single-use after a hard-bone shot.
Is the standard Grim Reaper Razortip crossbow-rated?
No. The standard model is not crossbow-rated. Crossbow shooters should use a crossbow-specific Grim Reaper head designed for the higher energy.
How big is the Grim Reaper Razortip's blood trail?
Trails are a strength. The three-blade cut and trocar mini-blades produce devastating wounds, and the 2-inch SKU gives ridiculously big exits, with most deer dead within about 40 yards.
